Jack looked at himself one more time in the mirror before he prepared to leave. While he was still dressed in his black robes, quite enjoying how they contrasted against his white hair, he wanted to make sure they looked decent before he headed up to heaven.

Today would be his first semi-official date with Hiccup. Sure Hiccup may not have known it was a date, but he would by the end of it. They had been hanging around together for a while, but the hunter and the vampire were always there so they didn’t get any alone time. Tonight, however, it would be just them and Jack was actually quite excited.

As he prepared to travel to heaven, he realized he probably shouldn’t travel to directly beside where Hiccup agreed to meet him; he didn’t want to scare him like last time. Last time he had appeared right next to the angel let’s just say that there had been a squeal and what was probably the closest to Hiccup using unangelic language that anyone would ever hear. Although Jack had to admit he got a bit of pleasure out of startling people that way (especially that vampire), Jack was not interested in a repeat performance with Hiccup. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath as the shadows took over his form and whisked him away.

...

Jack arrived in heaven in the middle of a large empty space. A few children that had also been playing in the area were startled when he arrived, but nothing serious. Jack couldn’t help but smile just a little at startling the children, but he moved on quickly.

As he walked towards where he would be meeting Hiccup, he was met with odd glances and stares from several angels he walked past. He couldn’t expect anything less in reality though. While the angels knew of Jack and his connection to Hiccup, many were still uneasy and untrusting of him. He could feel that several of them were confused as to why he would even come to such a place instead of meeting Hiccup on Earth. That is where they usually went anyways.

As he walked past a very young angel, one he had never noticed before, he heard the child whisper to an adult, “Why is his hair white?” Jack had become used to this however, and so he kept on walking. Jack had to admit though, his hair colour had confused him as well. White was such a pure colour, representing innocence and light, basically everything most demons were not. So why was his hair white? He had never seen anyone else with white hair either.

His thoughts were interrupted when he heard Hiccup calling his name. Sure enough, running straight in his direction was the exact angel he had come here to collect before heading down to Earth on their 'date'.

“There you are,” Hiccup exclaimed, wrapping the demon in a hug. Jack had finally gotten used to Hiccup’s hugs, this time hugging back without flinching first. When Hiccup finally released him, Jack spoke.

“Yup, and right on time I might add,” Jack smirked self-confidently.

“Alrighty mister on time, let’s go!” Hiccup said excitedly, bouncing ever so slightly on the tips of his toes. Jack would never understand how Hiccup almost permanently seemed like he had a sugar high, but to him it was kind of adorable.

“Come one then,” Jack directed as he grabbed Hiccup’s arm and pulled him close. “Remember, just breathe deeply and keep your eyes closed if you want.”

Hiccup nodded and held onto Jack a little tighter. While he loved spending time with Jack down on Earth, he had to admit he was not a fan of travelling like this. The first time he had nearly been sick afterwards. But seeing as he couldn’t fly, there really weren’t any other options and he didn’t want to disturb Rapunzel to fly him down. So, he took a deep breath, nodded, and together they disappeared into the shadows as a few other awestruck angels watched.

...

They arrived on Earth in the forest around Burgess, reappearing in a random spot in the small forest. They generally tended to stay in the forest, only venturing out if they needed to for fear of being spotted and singled out. They preferred not to bring more attention to themselves than necessary. The only times they ventured out into the city were when they were with the other Hiccup and Jack, and they could borrow some clothes from them to cover up a little more. But going into the city wasn’t important to them; they just enjoyed being together.

They started through the forest in a random direction, walking slowly. They chitchatted, and when they passed a fallen tree Hiccup walked along it like it was a tightrope. He jumped off delicately at the end and stuck the landing, earning a small round of applause from Jack. Hiccup took his bow and they continued their journey.

“Hey, I just realized, this is our first time here without the others,” Hiccup commented as they walked through a small, very lightly used path.

“Oh yeah, it is,” Jack smiled, pretending as if he hadn’t realized this in advance.

“It’s kind of nice, just the two of us. I mean I love our friends, but this is nice too.”

Jack couldn’t have been happier to hear that, especially accompanied with that amazing smile that looked so genuine. It just reconfirmed that hopefully his plan for the evening would work out.

Soon they ended up at the back of a brick building, not having realized just how close to the street and buildings they had been walking. When they were greeted with the brick wall on the other side of a shrub, they looked at each other and laughed.

“So I guess we should turn back,” Hiccup suggested.

“Or we could phase through the wall and scare some people half to death,” Jack proposed, only half kidding.

“Jack,” Hiccup jokingly scolded before turning around. “Let’s…”

“Help!”

The cry came seemingly out of nowhere, and it caused both the angel and the demon to snap their attention back to the building. It had come from just around the corner, and it was followed by a laugh that could only be described as malicious. Hiccup jumped behind Jack at the sound, but still pushed him forward. He knew he couldn’t not try to help someone who needed it.

When they stuck their heads around the corner they saw a person cowering in fear, and what they assumed to be a vampire harassing him since it was flashing its fangs. Then, out of seemingly nowhere, another one appeared that looked almost identical to the first, except the new vampire was male instead of female. They both had long, blonde hair and were rather skinny.

“So sis, should we drink this one’s blood ourselves or take him to the master?”

“I think he looks delicious,” she responded running her fingers along the man’s arms. “Let’s keep him for ourselves.” She donned an evil looking smirk as she said this, prompting the man to shout out once more. Unfortunately it was late and no one was on the adjacent street to hear him.

“Jack, we have to do something,” Hiccup whispered, sounding mildly upset. Jack really had no interest in helping the person, but when he saw the look on the angel’s face, he knew he couldn’t say no.

Jack looked back at the male vampire and said, “Somnus.” When the male vampire fell asleep and the female was confused, Jack repeated the spell and the female fell to the ground, soundly asleep on top of her brother.

“What the heck is going on?” the man screamed, not understanding why the vampires were falling around him. Jack cast the spell one last time to put the man to sleep, and then cast another to wipe his memory of the past few minutes. The pair worked together to hide the vampires behind a few garbage cans to make sure no one would see them, and moved the man to a different alley so he wouldn’t immediately find the vampires once more (this of course being Hiccup’s idea; Jack was perfectly fine to leave them where they were).

As they finally started to walk away approximately two minutes after the whole ordeal had begun, a familiar hunter came crashing through the bushes. He wielded a stake, but when he saw the angel and the demon he immediately stopped and dropped his weapon.

“Oh, hey guys! What are you doing here? Did you hear that call for help?”

“Oh, we were just going for a walk,” the demon said. “As for the call, we dealt with it. Everything’s fine.”

“Oh, cool,” Hiccup smiled. “I guess I’ll just head back to…”

“Wait!” the angel interrupted. “Walk with us for a while!”

The demon internally cringed at this, wanting to have his alone time with his angel, but knowing having the other Hiccup there would make the angel happy he remained silent. Plus, Hiccup always seemed a lot more adorable when the other one was around.

They had been walking for about thirty seconds, the Hiccups in the front and Jack close behind, when suddenly something came crashing through the trees and landed right in front of them. All three had jumped, but upon hearing the pained groans and seeing a mess of white hair that could only be matched by one other person, they instantly knew who it was.

“Hi Jack,” the angel greeted cheerfully while the hunter stifled a laugh and the demon rolled his eyes. This was the last thing he needed right now.

“Hey,” the vampire responded, the sound muffled by the dirt he was still lying face down in. When the hunter got his case of the giggles out he finally walked over and helped the vampire up.

“You ok?” the Hiccups asked in near unison.

“Yeah, I’m fine,” the vampire responded with a smile. Before anything could be said however the Hiccups were off once more and the Jacks were forced to follow suit.

They spoke for around twenty minutes before the Hiccups yawned in unison.

“I should probably get back,” the hunter said as he stretched.

“Alright, I’ll take you,” the vampire offered, wrapping Hiccup in a hug. They waved goodbye and then the vampire and the hunter flew off through the trees.

“You want to go back too?” the demon asked while they were alone. The angel simply nodded, gently rubbing his eye with a fist. “Deep breath,” Jack instructed as the shadows enveloped them once more.

...

They arrived back in heaven right beside where Hiccup normally slept. Hiccup looked around, happy to be back.

“Tonight was interesting,” Jack commented.

“It was fun. I’m sorry that it had to end so suddenly, and that you didn’t exactly get the alone time you wanted with me.”

“Wh-what?” Jack asked, wondering how Hiccup had learned of that.

“I know you wanted to be alone with me tonight Jack. I’m sorry it didn’t work out. Maybe for our second date we’ll explore somewhere new, outside of Burgess. Goodnight,” Hiccup said before planting a soft kiss on Jack’s cheek.

Jack stood there stunned for a moment as Hiccup laid down. When he realized he should leave he travelled back home, but he himself did not go to sleep. He had too many questions running through his mind: how did Hiccup know he wanted to turn this into a date? Did he just get given the green light for a second date? Why did Hiccup kiss him? And most importantly: why did he care? He couldn’t wait for date number 2, and this time it would go off perfectly.
